The map shows that most artists come from the United States. There, most activity is found on the east and west coast and especially in larger cities like New York and San Francisco. Europe also contains a lot of markers and specifically London seems to be a music hotspot. Striking is that no Asian or South American artists and only a few African artists are to be found in the dataset. Apparently their music is not popular in the United States at all. These results come as no surprise since America is known for a rather patriotic taste in music. Including alternative charts from all over the world, would probably result in a completely different, more evenly spread map.
