Analysis of the evolution over time is implemented through a Google Motion chart. This interactive visualisation consists of 7 features and is based on average values for each position in the chart. The average features are calculated for each position for each year. In this way, the evolution of an average number 1 song can be analysed, the evolution of an average number 2 song can be analysed etc.

Analysis of the chart shows clear rising trends in the features concerning facebook likes, loudness and number of weeks. Also tempo seems to be rising throughout the years. The rise in number is especially applicable to the number 1 and number 2 positions. This indicates that hit songs nowadays remain a lot longer in the chart than they used to. This could be due to the fact that the audience simply does not get tired of a certain song as fast as they used to or the fact that radio and TV stations keep repeating the same songs over and over again for a longer time.
